White Oak of Aura, by Connie Nicholson |
It stole the oak tree's leaves away.
Then snapped its boughs & pulled its bark
Until the oak was tired and stark.
But still the oak tree held its ground
While other trees fell all around.
The weary wind gave up and spoke,
"How can you still be standing, Oak?"
The oak tree said, " I know that you
Can break each branch of mine in two,
Carry every leaf away,
Shake my limbs, and make me sway.
But I have roots stretched in the earth,
Growing stronger since my birth.
You'll never touch them, for you see,
They are the deepest part of me.
Until today, I wasn't sure
Of just how much I could endure.
But now I've found, with thanks to you,
I'm stronger than I ever knew."
Staying strong... for more chemo tomorrow.
lots of love... little lisa lollipop
P.S. Thanks to Curt Nicholson. A great man and a great friend!
Love it!!! Kepp strong, Lisa!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Lisa, feeling honored you used my photo. I am Curt's sister Connie. Prayers and positive thoughts coming your way.
ReplyDeleteI think we should a pitch in and send you to Vegas so Elvis can marry you. Believe it or not, if I was to ever get married, I thought of doing the same. Couldn't decide if I should do that or a nice beach. Elvis would truly make for a better story.
If not maybe Curt could go online, get an ordained minister cert. and then he could marry you (dressed as Elvis or course). lol
Take care and I'm glad you have such a great group around you to support and be with you during this journey.
Regards,
Connie (aka Curt's sister = the amazing man and friend and brother)
HI Connie. Thank you again for allowing me to use the picture. My sister just told me that you took the picture the morning after the decision to save the tree was made - at sunrise. Which makes the picture even more amazing. I have to ask Curt to explain the Native American component to the story. I also may have to ask Curt to get ordained and wear an Elvis outfit for us. running into some church politics. Well love to you and the Nicholson family. Lisa :o)
DeleteLisa~ My husband and I met you at CHOP while you were taking care of our granddaughter Hannah. You touched our hearts by being so kind to Hannah and Rachel. You are in our thoughts and prayers daily.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." -Jeremiah 17:7-8
